My favourite 15″ Laptop | The LG Gram 15 15Z90N
Let us begin with some context. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of 15” laptops. I like my laptops to be small and light, and generally I find that with 15” laptops they tend to be a little too big for me and in many cases, a little too heavy. For myself, I’d always look at a 14” or 13” laptop (or even 12.5” which is what my go-to laptop for site visits is).
So when I knew the LG Gram 15” 15Z90N was coming my way, I was excited, as I’d heard and read about how thin and light they are. Apparently this was the 15” laptop which was so thin and light, you wouldn’t realise it was in fact a 15” laptop.
Having received the laptop and unpacked it, I was truly amazed. The weight, at just 1.1kg, is hugely impressive. It’s lighter than most 13” and 14” laptops. Likewise how thin it is, seems to defy the laws of physics. The design is a thing of beauty and innovation at its best.
What’s more, is that this ultra-thin and light laptop comes with a massive 18 hours of battery (claimed), meaning all day working without reaching for the charger is a reality. This is a mobile worker’s dream who want the bigger screen, but need it to travel well.
The spec and the speed of this laptop doesn’t disappoint either. The model we selected came with an i5 10th Generation processor (basically a really good processor), 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD NVMe hard drive. Put all that together and you have a super speed laptop, booting in seconds and easily handling multiple browser tabs, Office applications, and video conferencing.
Having used this laptop, the screen is also a thing of beauty – sharp, bright, vibrant are all words that spring to mind.
LG even throws in a USB to Ethernet adapter in the box, which is great to see, so Ethernet fans like myself are happy (I’d prefer it onboard, but given the size of these laptops, you can understand why it’s omitted).
This is without a doubt, my favourite 15” laptop, certainly of 2020 and possibly of all time. Even myself who would normally avoid a 15” for my own use, I just love it. Everything about it from the design to the spec is superb. Even the price, yes it costs a fair bit, but it’s certainly not unreasonable given what you get in return for your hard-earned cash.
I can highly recommend this, and I’d definitely consider treating myself to this if my trusty ThinkPad is to come to an abrupt end.
