W11 Blog 006 | Should you upgrade?

By now, if you’re computer is fully compatible with Windows 11, you should have been offered the upgrade via your Windows Updates (assuming you’re running Windows 10).

The question is, should you upgrade to Windows 11 when prompted to do so?

The simple answer is (spoiler alert), yes!

Overall you should always be using the latest version of any software, for security, performance and benefitting from the latest features.

Whilst I’ve previously mentioned some minor niggles with Windows 11 in this mini-series, there is not enough of a reason not to upgrade. Alongside this, the newer your computer is, the less chance there is of there being problems anyway.

We’ve had the odd situation where we’ve not upgraded to Windows 11 for a customer because we’ve been advised by a third party software vendor that there is a possible compatibility issue. This is rare, but it does happen – importantly though, this is more the software vendor letting the side down by not producing an update for their software to allow it to run properly on Windows 11.

With my office computer, I’ve been using Windows 11 for a number of months without problem (apart from the odd screen issue, which is unique to me/my computer), and I’ll be continuing to use this going forward.

When I can take some time, I will be upgrading my trusty laptop to Windows 11 as well (which should be fun, we’ll see how it handles my BitLocker setup).

Whilst Window 10 will be around and supported for a few years yet, I personally still think you should upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as you can, if nothing else, to simply future proof yourself.

So there we go, go forth and download/install the Windows 11 upgrade as and when you can.

Don’t forget though, that the Windows buttons is now in the middle of the taskbar 😉
