Keep productivity simple

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times – the best solutions are the simplest ones.

The same applies to your productivity and getting things done. You don’t want it to be hard to quote a customer, raise an order or simply look up some old information you previously sent out.

In this day and age (2022) there really is no need to be “sharing” things via email, or having to contact the person in accounts to check through their old emails to confirm a previously quoted price.

If you’re reliant on one particular computer or person at the office to access your important business information, then this is a huge weakness in your business (which might be difficult to hear), and you’re simply asking for trouble when that person is off work, or even worse that computer decides to stop working…permanently.

Having a centralised shared collaboration area for your files, email and accounting systems is super easy to put in place, and very easy to use and maintain. Making use of Cloud technology (no, not the ones full of rain) makes things secure, easy to backup and super quick to access. I’m writing this article right now, using such a system.

There aren’t enough hours in the day for any of us – so why waste them chasing around for files, or spending half your day waiting for someone to get back to you with a password so you can logon to the “important computer” – add all that up over a day, week or month and you will be losing so much time, it will be shocking.

As the theme of the article implies, there really are so many simple and easy solutions out there. IT and collaborative solutions aren’t complicated (they may have been made to look complicated in the past, but that’s an old school mentality), they are actually fun to use!

If you’re struggling with productivity, or you’ve never sat back and asked “why do we do it this way?”, then we might be able to help you. You will need to provide coffee though.
