We’re Cyber Essentials Certified!

With recently been through the process of reviewing our own network, computer, and security setup, with the aim of obtaining Cyber Essentials Certification – which we’ve now got!

What does this mean?

This means that we’re managing, securing and monitoring our computer systems in line with the Cyber Essentials guidelines, which is a government and National Cyber Security Centre backed scheme.

They outline, what a business should be doing to keep themselves protected, secure and up-to-date. You simply review what they’re after, document what you’re doing and before submitting, ensure you make any changes to your environment to comply with all of the guidelines.

As an IT business, we were already doing pretty much most of what they were after anyway, but even us (as no business is perfect) had to make a couple of small changes to the way we work to be compliant.

Having obtained the certification, this shows we’ve demonstrated that we’re doing the right things, with the right tools, which will help minimise any potential Cyber Security threats.

The Cyber Essentials scheme is growing all the time, with more and more vendors and suppliers asking about it, or having it as a requirement for them to work with other businesses.

It’s an excellent way of checking, improving and then being recognised as doing the right things around Cyber Security. Using the right Cyber Security tools in your business firstly will take you a long way to obtaining the certification with relative ease. You can then look upon your certification as a seal of approval moving forward, that you’re actively doing the right things that a business should be doing.
